Question

Is it safer to install that Windows 10 upgrade now?

Dec 13, 2018 11:10AM PST

You had an discussion recently about latest Windows 10 update. I believe some folks were losing files when they upgraded?

I wondered how it is going, and if we should wait further. You gave instructions in that article how to adjust settings so the update does not happen without our allowing it.

If this is being discussed elsewhere, would someone please direct e.

Thank you.

Getting Ready to Update Question
Apr 3, 2019 10:08AM PDT

I followed directions in one of the discussions on here to put in settings a "stop" on updates till the upgrade is safe.
(Update &Security, Windows Update, Advanced Options....Turn off Automatic Matic Download Updates) Then (Network&Internet, WI-Fi, toggle "set as metered connection).

I am trying now to do the upgrade before the next one comes out in April.

However, when I went in to "go back and toggle off the "metered connection setting, and check for updates", there is no longer anything that says ""metered connection" that I can toggle off so I can check for updates.

I am lost.

Please help. Thanks

I'd leave it alone.

That is, a few folk try to meter those USB Internet access sticks and they get upset that others don't know to point that out as "wired connection" and not metered.

For the office home and everyone I know the update system works. Only the few that tinker and try to block updates seem to need support.

System Restore Helped
Apr 4, 2019 6:01AM PDT

After getting lost in undoing all the safeguards against update installment, I finally did a system restore to a day before.

It worked great, no problems, an update was installed.

I am happy, and will leave it at that.

Sooo appreciate this forum, and the folks willing to help.

Thanks much.
