ducky556,
For hooking up the cable box, component might be the best way to hook that up (red, blue, green, + audio). If you want to record shows, many of those cable boxes have a "picture out" button that you'd hook to the DVD Input. DVD output should go back to the television.
Some DVD/VCR combos have their own internal tuner, which can confuse the issue, but recording directly from the cable box may give the overall easiest experience.
Keep me posted!

My parents just purchased a LN32A550 and I was trying to help them hook it up to the cable box (Comcast) and their Sony VCR/DVD. They still like to tape a few shows and watch some old videos, God bless them. I was able to get a picture on the VCR but no sound. The DVD was easy using the standard audio/video red-yellow-white cables in the AV2 but I was not successful using any configuration with RF cable or audio/video cables in any port. Is it even possible to do this?
