If you want to save individual emails, you can simply drag a particular email to say, a folder you've created on your desktop; give the folder a descriptive name. Each individual letter will have an envelope icon. If you use an RW disk, I'd suggest formatting the RW with packet writing software like InCd or DirectCD so you can treat the disk like a floppy so you can add/delete as you please. To check on how much space you have left on the disk- whether it be a RW or zip you can open up my computer and you should see how much space has been used, and how much is free.
If you're talking about backing up your entire OE mailbox, use your find function and typing *.dbx - this will give you all the folders of your OE mailbox. You can then burn/copy them to disk. Or go to Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder to find out where your dbx files are. You can either import them back to that folder, or simply copy them back in if you have a computer crash. I hope this answers your question. BTW- I believe I've seen free OE mail backup utilities in the download section of CNET; personally, I use a $40 program made by Genie-Soft, but there's no reason you have to spend money if you're on a budget. Good luck.

Oh thank you so much Grif for answering my request. I appreciated Kees answer but it seemed out of context to what I inquired about. Thanks for laymen explanation
on what/how to do.
I have cable internet which is becoming TOO expensive for the ordinary non-working disable. I will be halting
their service when this particular promotion runs out next month. My DVD reader burned out on me, but I do have a 12x10x32x CD r/w burn-proof CD-Rom, also have a
100mb Zip drive. I have a lot of stored e-mails which I
do not want to lose, but with OE I am having trouble saving them to disc or disk. Can U formulate a way that
I can save these files? Also If I used the Zip drive, how can I tell when the disk is capacitated? I would not want it to reach a full capacity when half of the file is loaded and not the complete file. Thanks again
Grif You're the best. This is also along with the rest of the guys, too now. lol
