Question

Is it just me?

Feb 27, 2018 4:09PM PST

I get the impression that congress can't agree on what day of the week it is.

If we have a problem with our gun background check system then fix the darn thing.

Are pols so afraid of the NRA that they are frozen in place?

It's baby steps moving forward.

It seems that for some pols if you can't fix everything don't fix anything.

but, we don't at any time. Despicable of course, but at least you're able to ID us correctly.
Corollary: In the next war, you'll be trying to kill us but we won't be trying to kill you. A good thing, right?

Always offering a better government. Most aren't interested, so they show up at Town Hall trying to patch up the old one.

Handouts at people's homes.......

By invitation or by invasion of their privacy and right to not be disturbed in their territory? Your religion is the only one I know of that believes you have a right to invade someone's space whenever you feel like it. I've never once invited you to my house....I wonder how you would feel if I knocked on your door at all hours of the day repeatedly and hand out Gideon Bibles. It's kind of quirky that anti-religious zealots file lawsuits over God and crosses aimed at schools or government buildings, etc. but I don't recall them even once suing JW's for coming on private property uninvited. Why is that, I wonder? My taxes build the schools and government buildings, but I also pay taxes to keep my property and it should be safe from any invasion that isn't invited.

The half truths and ... umm

misstatements [is that OK, Mods?] you've made can be corrected by reading our posted, verifiable history, which you refuse to do. You'd rather poison the well. That's your choice.

Half-truth: "I wonder how you would feel if I knocked on your door at all hours of the day repeatedly and hand out Gideon Bibles." When? Citation, please? After midnight? Before dawn?
Gideon Bibles: From the Gideons? It's a KJV, which we would be happy to discuss with you.
Misstatement: "Your religion is the only one I know of that believes you have a right to invade someone's space whenever you feel like it. I've never once invited you to my house." We do not believe we have such a "right". We observe Private Property and No Trespassing signs and consider them as synonymous. In their absence we are free to approach your door as a neighbor, which we are. [See below also.] Say, aren't you the one with a house full of loaded rifles? Can't you get a bead on us as we come up the walk? Of course in the absence of the above-mentioned signs you would be violating federal law and the Constitution to open fire. And you're a patriot, so we're safe from you. Whew! But, hey, we've had worse from the likes of Hitler and his kind. Still here.
Truth: "but I don't recall". Correct, you don't. Hence your false report: "[never] suing JW's for coming on private property uninvited." Such lawsuits have been a part of our witness for decades. Here are two sources: The book Armed with the Constitution, [Ms] Merlin Owen Newton [a non-Witness], 1995. US Supreme Court, Jones vs. City of Opelika. You'll have to look up those yourself. You won't.
Truth: "Your religion is the only one I know of" Correct, you don't. Three more: LDS, Seventh Day Adventists, radical Islam.
Plea: "I should be safe from any invasion that isn't invited" Yes, we believe that, too. About invasions. We feel that way about 9/11/2001, 12/7/1942, and many other invasions. Unless you have something else in mind by "invasion"?
I asked about the relevance of your other comment. Still waiting.

When I travel and stay in a motel
Mar 5, 2018 4:52PM PST

I always check to make sure that a copy of Gideons is there. Mind you...I don't open and read from it...but there's something about these sort of traditions that give me comfort even when the bed in the room does not. Happy

If the motel were to stop allowing the Gideon society to leave the books but opt for pornographic literature instead, I'd worry about staying there without having a can of Lysol nearby. Grin
