Question

Is it advisable to request a copy of all website files?

Feb 26, 2014 2:15AM PST

Is it advisable to request a copy of all website files at the end of a site build?

We just completed a new website and received final invoice. The web developer seems like they'll be around to support us for a long time but we also got an uncomfortable red flag from someone in the field. Is it advisable to request a copy of all files before final payment is made?

Answer
There is no harm in doing so

If you have access to where the website is hosted, you could potentially just download all the files. That said, if they used Photoshop to design graphics, etc, I would recommend obtaining a copy of the website and source files.

Yes you are right. The same happened with me. I did the complete work and after that they told we don't like your work and also they request to refund the money.

It is mandatory to have a copy of source code with you and you have the right to ask for it as you paid for the development.
