This from your bolded paragraph
"But it is the issue of how the Church relates to gay believers that has dominated the headlines in recent weeks." (underline mine) says plenty. Do you see what it's reporting? It's reporting what reporters are reporting about their own activity. It's not reporting anything coming from the church about how gay persons should be treated. If you want to know what that position is, look it up for yourself using official sources and not what the media is spinning.
That something is only what the
. It's not reporting anything coming from the church about how gay persons should be treated.
Also in my post
But it is the issue of how the Church relates to gay believers that has dominated the headlines in recent weeks. Pope Francis has personally fostered a climate of tolerance towards such believers, most recently embracing a gay friend who brought his partner along for a visit with the pontiff in the U.S.
pope embraces gay couple
If the Pope isn't showing the position of the Vatican/church, and he represents the Vatican/church, then he is showing HIS position.
Correct?
IF he isn't representing the Vatican/church and thinks gays should be embraced/tolerated....who are lesser beings(than The Pope) to condemn gays?
I can tell you from recent homilies in my own church that the pope isn't out of step with what I'm hearing there. The issue isn't and never has been how a person feels. It's always been about how they respond to those feelings. We can also use the word "temptations" here (and temptations aren't always evil ones). We are taught to love, respect, and treat decently all persons though we do reject what's called sinfulness. It's not easy but it is expected.
about that which you know little. Reading nothing but media accounts can make one poorly educated but greatly agitated.
I agree with you......will you help me save others?
Stop hanging on media sources if you want the best information. Use the horses mouth for that. Don't openly react to media accounts of anything. They are watching and waiting for your reaction to know if they've been successful in making you jump up and down. That's their goal. Don't let them achieve it.
I hope that helps.
or decide who needs someone's lecture from the bible ?
Are you some kind of lecture specialist?
Get a grip !
I KNOW this land and whatever nation came on it was devoted to God and Christ by the first ones to arrive here from Europe. What secularist did after that is just added to the Lie.
Before it was conquered by people from Europe it was devoted to the Gods of the natives. Now it's devoted to your God. And most likely it will be devoted to another God in another 1000 years.
That's the Truth, isn't it?
Kees
and probably will never be? Personally, I don't see reason to argue that but I do see reason to argue the basis for people leaving Europe for a new and unfamiliar land. Lack of religious freedom was a part of that reason but it was also abusive rulers in general. They used religion to exclude, oppress and persecute in order to maintain loyalty and power. That wasn't new and was also the basis for the what's come to be known as the "inquisitions". Kings were rooting out those whose loyalty was in question.
My own take of our history is that, unfortunately, some of that mentality came with those who settled here. They did want to practice their religions but the fighting among the immigrants still happened. The "founding fathers", it seems, noted that and attempted to rectify it...not by removing religion from the environment but by trying to create a tolerance for all of it by removing government influence and interference from the picture. Lately, others are trying to use their own thinking to second guess what was intended by the founders.
In any event, this is an old thread dredged up and, since I initiated it, I'd not mind at all if it was locked.
Was the God of the natives. Variants on how they worshipped it though. Many Christians believe we came and gave them the updated version about The Great White Spirit, aka Holy Ghost.
