That depends on what you call "best". A laptop uses less power, so it's cheaper to use and more environmentally friendly. And it takes less space.

That's up to you and your usage.

If you want to use in multiple rooms a laptop is better. If you want to be mobile at all a laptop is better. If mobility doesn't matter you get more bang for your dollar with a desktop.

Few desktops left here.

Between home and office we're all on laptops. There are servers that you could call a desktop or are actually desktops the run the server OS and role.

I've Got Both

In one of our spare rooms, I've got a desktop where I can comfortably sit at a nice chair and work online, or watch sports, or DVD's away from the rest of the house when I want to. I've got a good large monitor and quality speakers so I can use the desktop for things the laptop doesn't do as well. In addition, because they seem to dissipate heat better, our laptops last a lot longer than our desktops.

Then again, whenever we want to be mobile, or need a backup during power outages, the laptops work better.

It's up to you.

Hope this helps

Desktop/laptop

If you need it to be portable get a laptop.

If it does not need to be portable and you have the space get a desktop.
The desktop allows you to config the whole setup to you liking.
