Well, I think you answerd your own question. No it's not.
Comoponet is an analog signal.
You should allwise use the best connection you have.
So if you have DVI/HDMI, then use this over component.
If the best you have is componet use this over S-VHS, ETC. John
I have a Zenith DvB318 and a Samsung HLR-4677W. I have no problem to upconvert to 720P using component cable but the TV displays horizontal strips that move from bottom to top when I try to upconvert to 1080i. The Customer Service guy from Samsung told me he never heard about upconverting to 1080i using componenent but suggested to use the HDMI input (the Zenith has an DVI output so I'm using a male DVI/HDMI converter). The results with the HDMI/DVI are very good, no more problems with my TV but I still wondering if this is a real constraint or if there is a problem with the component input of my TV. I still have one week (until Friday, Sept 30) to return it to the vendor. Thanks!
