Question

Is apt building WIFI enough vs. home internet?

Apr 7, 2016 10:36AM PDT

Hello. I don't know much about laptop security, except the basics. I've only used cable internet connections at home.

I'm moving into an apartment that offers free wifi throughout the building. The apartment website states that the wifi connection is strong in every unit. Sounds like I could save several hundred dollars by not getting home internet!

All I do online is browse, watch movies, youtube, e-mail, and pay bills. No gaming and rarely any uploading. Is wifi all I will need?

Or is there a chance that my banking and other passwords will be intercepted through wifi? Can apartment management or tech-savvy neighbors monitor my browsing?

an internet connnection in every unit or every unit shares internet. I would imagine it's more expensive for the complex infastructure to set up routers and network equipment that would give a strong connection in every unit then having an ISP connection in every unit.
