Is an External Mic Necessary or even Useful?

Nov 2, 2006 12:05AM PST

Well I am asking this because I don't understand the use. Mostly because I haven't used one. Do they help a lot? I do not want to spend huge bucks just for a mic! And do they have to be huge protruding things or can you get small ones that don't stick out too much and are light while performing really good?

I take it you haven't used such a setup. The times I have the audio clarity is quite the step up. Definitely worth the extra ounces.

ANYTHING was better than the internal mic.

As to LANC, type LANC WIKIPEDIA into google.com and see what the WIKIPEDIA tells.
