Is a laptop or tablet better for my mom?

Mar 30, 2011 8:44AM PDT

My mom's 70th birthday is coming up and I want to get her a computer. She has NEVER used a computer before. She would just need the internet, video chat, and email.

I automatically went to get her a laptop, but saw the XOOM and thought that might actually be better.

She's not a great learner (took years to figure out the DVD player), so I want to get her something really easy to use.

Any advice?

For some, Android is too daunting.

The iPad doesn't have Flash available does it?

Not as big an issue as folk talk it up.

iPad vs laptop
Mar 31, 2011 12:34AM PDT

Youtube isn't the main reason for flash. I got my iPad for workout can't use my work email account on it because it won't let me. Can't do company training due to no flash player. But I can do all non-productive things with the iPad. I wish I had gotten the galaxy or something else. What a waste! It is fun to play with but I am very disappointed.

You need to make that clear when you post. Your requirements as stated will be satisfied.
