Is a Dual Core Pentium 4 CPU compatible w/ 865G Motherboard?

by Mr._Stone / July 30, 2009 5:11 AM PDT

I'm upgrading my internals inside my Dell. As it turns out this computer is nowhere near its potential yet and I could extend the lifetime of this PC for another two years by upgrading my Pentium 4 Core 2.8GHz CPU (current 533MHz... potential 800MHz without overclocking) to Pentium 4 Core/Dual Core 3.2-4GHz CPU, Geforce FX 5200 AGP GPU to HIS HD 4670 IceQ Native HDMI 1GB (128bit) DDR3 AGP GPU, 2 DRR2 RAM Modules to 4 1GB DDR3 RAM Modules (DDR3-4 Supported), and 250W DC Power Supply to 400-800W DC Power Supply (if needed). Also installing a cheap CPU fan would better reduce heat and the GPU comes with a built on fan. I?ve already upgraded my old 80GB HDD to HDD with a Seagate 500GB 7,200RPM HDD and manually installed the OS then modified/configured the software. Sound expensive? Nope, it?ll cost around $300-$400 dollars in total for these upgrades. There?s more out there if you know where to look and I?m looking forward to pushing this computer to its full potential; which?s faster than many new computers (not all computers of course :^) ).

No, this motherboard won't support Dual Core Pentium 4 processors. I'll continue posting information about me upgrading my computer so individuals interested in upgrading their similar computers can do so also. Feel free to respond if you want.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
