is a DDR2 Vidoe Card compatible with DDR pc memory

This is something i have looked all over for and cannot find the answer. I have a socket 478 mobo that supports DDR only. I have to get a new video card and all the ones that have the minimum specs for the games i play all say they are DDR2 vid memory. Does it make a difference that they are different types of memory?

my head hurts after looking for answers so any help would be great.
