At work there are so many 3D printers I can't count them all. They churn out prototypes and finals for clients all the time. These are running about 5KUSD on average due to they must turn out pretty good stuff.
So I've been hearing about all this 3D printing hoopla for quite sometime now . . .
Apparently you can print your own toys, kidneys, food or whatever.
In fact here are some examples:
1. https://pinshape.com/items/6944-3d-printed-m1-abrams-tank-model-kit (If you are into toys like me - ha!)
2. http://gizmodo.com/5959717/skyfall-filmmakers-3d-printed-this-rare-aston-martin-so-they-wouldnt-damage-the-original
(Yes this whole car was made on a 3D Printer!!).
Now what I want to know is how long will it take before we all have our very own 3D printers? I mean most of these are still around a thousand or so . . .
Plus will it ever become mainstream or is just another 'hobby' for the financially loaded?
I just hate it when you dream of technology that doesn't come through.
(Still awaiting my hover board and flying car btw. Rrrrrr).
