IRiver PMP-120 Question

I am having the darn'est time trying to switch to the next audio track in this player. When you press the <- or -> on the player, instead of going to the next song, it just opens up the Playlist. If I am playing a audio track, is there a way to simply scroll or going to the next track without having to create a playlist??
