General discussion

iriver ifp-790 or creative muvo n200 micro (256mb)?

I've been checking these mp3 player for quite a while and still can't decide which one to buy. Know the most of the pros and cons but I haven't had a chance to try them out. Which one has a better sound? Richer and crispier? I saw that the iriver has more equalizer settings. Is that a big advantage?

I just got a Creative MuVo N200...

and I'm impressed so far. I've only had it for a 4 days, so this is a limited review. The size really impressed me--it's so small! I'm not a huge fan of the ear buds (in fact I posted a message here looking for replacement suggestions) but I don't know if it's the buds or my ears. I have nothing to compare it to, but the sound quality is very good in my opinion. One downside (that's been brought up on this board and on cnet in general) is the buzz that occurs when the backlight is on. It is only on for about a second, but it could probably annoy some people. This is fixed by just having the light off all the time. It doesn't bug me, so I just leave it on. Good luck.

I have had mine for about 1 month now. I like it. The only problem I have with it is you can not play songs except by alphabetical order.

iRiver

You should take the iRiver. More equalizer settings is definately an advantage. When adjusted for the type of song you listen to, it sounds a lot richer and crisper than the origional. iRiver is also more duriable, and has a far better display. Creative is a little bit smaller, but the buttons are also small, and has to be pressed with your fingertips. iRiver has a mini joystick that's very useful. You can easily change volume and browse through songs without even taking it out of you pocket.
