Irish DOG and BONEs (Mobile phones)

May 23, 2006 8:59PM PDT

It is clearly evident here in Ireland that everyone is dependant on the mobile just as much as Americans are on E-mail. I don't know anyone who doesnt use one! My Nann is 82 and she has just learnt to text, so now i'm tortured with early morning messages, but it proves that your never too old to learn! Many people say ach sure i've too many things about here and wouldn't have time to learn, when fact is, they're afraid to learn new things..
Every year I get a new phone. First phone was a brick that would have burnt the cheek off me, then they progressed to a tiny credit size one with Walkman and internet Opera capabilities. I'm a big fan of Predicted Text (T9), it takes a while to catch on to but when you do, it's a timesaver! We have a great network facility here whereby you top-up your mobile with credit, and then you pay for only what you use - no line rental. Though if your travelling outside Ireland or the UK, you're sure to have a lot less credit by the time you return home! But it's a great thing for people new to mobile phones or kids who don't want scary bills.
