Iraqi Artist

Feb 20, 2004 10:17AM PST

.
Picture of a statue made by an Iraqi artist named Kalat, who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad. This artist was so grateful that the Americans liberated his country, he melted 3 of the fallen Saddam heads and made a memorial statue dedicated to the American soldiers and their fallen comrades. Kalat worked on this night and day for several months.

Not one word of praise or thanks to this Iraqi artist?

I got tears in my eyes when I read about what this man had done and saw the statue. I thought at least one person would suggest taking up a collection to send to this starving artist.

I got it in email and it could be that everyone has gotten several and just weren't interested in looking at it anymore?

I think maybe he is trying to send a message that He and the coming generation of Iraqi does appreciate our involvement over there and it is not in vain.
