IR problem on BD-P2500

Jan 31, 2009 12:20PM PST

I am having problems controlling my BD-P2500 Blu-ray with my Universal remote controls (MX850, 900, 980) via an IR repeater or an MRF. I can only control it through line of sight. I also have a BD-P1200 and do not have this problem. Anyone else experiencing this problem or have a solution for it? I have tried learning the codes, but still no results.

IR problem on BD-P2500
Feb 2, 2009 7:46AM PST

I am having the same problem. Although I don't have all the codes for my universal remote MX-900, I have found some that work such as stop, play, etc. My problem is it only work when the remote is used in line of sight. I am using universal remote RFX-150 to broadcast the signal.

IR problem
Feb 2, 2009 2:46PM PST

Does the original remote that came with the unit still work?

If so, it may be some coding issues in the universal remotes that we might be able to help the manufacturer of those remotes fix.

Keep me posted!

Samsung remote only works with line of sight
Feb 3, 2009 12:49AM PST

The Samsung BD-P2500 remote only works through line of sight. When I point it at my IR receiver it doesn't work, yet on my BD-P1200 player it works through the IR receiver and my universal remote works as well. I think there is something wrong with the IR pickup in the BD-P2500. Can you test for this problem? What can be done to correct it?

The only way I know to diagnose this issue would be to call 800-SAMSUNG and set up a service ticket for it and send it in for diagnosis and repair.

This is not the only BD-P2500 that has IR problems
Feb 4, 2009 11:34PM PST

This is not the only BD-P2500 that has this IR problem. I have one and a customer of mine has one with the same problem. Also at least one other person has responded to this thread with the same problem. Will they send a replacement player for the one being sent out for repairs? How long would it take to work on it? Why don't they test a player they have at the factory under similar conditions and come up with a fix? Can you suggest that? I don't really want to be without the player for weeks.

I finally got it to work via my IR receiver thru my remote
Feb 8, 2009 11:36AM PST

I finally got it to work via my IR receiver thru my universal remote MX-900. The trick turned out to be the location of the BD-P2500's IR pickup. The location that worked for me was approximately 2" to the left of the control knob on the right front of the unit. Also I placed the IR emitter about 1" out from the unit, rather than stuck to the front and I also turned down my IR receiver's emitter signal. The problem was amplified by the fact that the BD-P2500's manual showed the IR pickup location to be between the eject button and the L.E.D. info window on the left side of the player. I tried many, many times to get it to work based on that location, but it never would.
Hopefully this information will help other people with this problem.
