Question

IR extender

Feb 24, 2015 5:54AM PST

When setting up my cable box to work with the TV's remotes ( regular and smart remotes) everything works OK until I unplug the IR extender. What am I doing wrong?

If you unplug an extender it makes sense the extender will no longer work.

Yes , But the manual tells you to unplug it after the cable box respondes to the extender.

Then what can you do?

Go with what works or return it as defective?

That would mean that the TV is defective. I still think I'm doing something wrong when setting it up. Anybody else?

Or the manual is not right.

I've used IR extenders for years and all so far must be plugged in to work.

To me, it seems you must choose. That is, will you go with what works or return products with defects like this?

PS. Here, Samsung is 1800SAMSUNG, could be fun.
