ipowerweb ''AVOID'' at all cost, under fraud investigation

Aug 11, 2006 9:17AM PDT

I purchased a web redesign from ipowerweb for $1200. My main concern being the site be built in the US. Ipowerweb said it would be built in CA. I was told a project manager would contact me the same day I paid them. It took several telephone calls and 10 days before someone from Bulgaria called. Ipowerweb told me they wanted $4,000 more to design my site, which I didn't pay. I only thing I received from ipowerweb is the run around. Phone calls and emails are rarely returned. This is a basic 'bait and switch' operation. The Arizona Attorney General is investigating ipowerweb for fraud. Send your thoughts etc. to T Giffin Conrad, VP at ipowerweb at tconrad@ipowerweb.com.

GOOD!!! WHAT A JOKE OF A COMPANY
Mar 10, 2008 1:44AM PDT

We've been w/ ipower for almost a year now with a retail-selling business website...it was good up until they decided to 'upgrade' their websites, since January we haven't been able to access our website! They keep telling me it's fixed then I try it and it still doesn't work so I call them, after a llloooonnnnngggg wait on hold, I am told that a 'tech will call me back THEY NEVER DO!!! then I e-mail them and they keep telling me that it is fixed or I'm doing something wrong, but they tell me how to access the website, but they leave out some of the major steps...so, after 2 months...I can access my business e-mail and I can delete items on my website, but I still cannot edit it or add items. A computer geek said that their system no longer accepts JPEG's a universal code...so how am I supposed to add images to a catalog??? and even going thru Paypal cart buttons directly, they cannot be added to our web pages...STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS POSING AS A HOSTING SERVER!!!! ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN CONTACT THE AZ ATTORNEY GENERAL THAT IS WORKING ON THIS CASE DIRECTLY?

IPOWER web has very bad service!
Mar 18, 2008 7:48PM PDT

For 4 months I cant use my website, I cant upload files, I cant send e-mails, I cant recieve emails. All they say that they apoligize and appericiate my patient. It is so much funny that I can not use service which I made payment in the begining. In addition to this they have very insufficient support. When you make payment they reply mails and messages in short time but when you ask support you may wait for a month without any reply.
I highly recommend all web developer not to use ipower web or ipower not have same difficulities with me.

Customer satisfaction: Does it matter to iPower?
Sep 19, 2008 8:06AM PDT

Apparently not! We opened our account with iPowerweb in 2002 and renewed our account with iPower in September 2007. With our new contract, our account is fully paid until September 2010.

During the last five years we have had minor problems with our web site hosting services with iPowerweb.

However, we have noted that we have had NO success in publishing our web site with ANY updates since we were transferred to the new iPower Platform in June 2008.

Meanwhile, we have followed every instruction and suggestion provided by iPower Technical Support through e-Mails, Online Support Tickets generated through the company's vDeck Control Panel, Online Live Chats, Telephone Support Requests, etc. and we continue to have problems re-publishing our web site.

Our online research shows that we are not alone in our experience:

I hope that this is a matter being seriously addressed by Mr. Thomas Gorney, President and Tracy Griffin Conrad, VP and COO of iPower.

Ipowerweb Ipower scam
Sep 29, 2009 11:33PM PDT

I had a Ipowerweb web hosting account for 6 years. For the past 6 years they had poor control panel. Information is never updated correctly but what I am going thru with them now is the worst I have seen.

My domain name xxxxxxxxx was up for renewal on July 23, 2009, I received an Email 30 days before the date. On the July 23rd, there was a charge of $8.99 on my credit card by Ipowerweb. My assumption was the fee for the domain name which about the annual renewal cost.

I had various conversation with them today, they claim $8.99 was for privacy charge which was automatic but the renewal fee is $9.95 and it was on manual. So they expired my domain name which they claim now in redemption status. If I want it I have to pay the $169 more. Normal annual registration fee is $9.95

They already charge me $8.99 which they claim privacy cost. It is like buying insurance for the car which you take it to junk yard. This is an unfair business practice and I would like someone to deal with it. Obviously I am not the only one with this problem.

I am so frustrated with them, I am ready to move my account to another web host. I am sure there is another business who treats their customer with respect.

Who is a good webhost provider. Please respond.. I need to move my account.

Sorry to hear that.. 6 years! Always read forums about these sub par quality hosting sites. You can get them at cheaper price but you will pay sooner or later.

Good luck on your new web hosting. At least you learned your lesson and many people will learn from you... if they read this.

They Got me....
Sep 14, 2010 6:54AM PDT

I had the same problem I updated my credit card info with Ipower web they AUTOMATICALLY billed me for everything (Hosting, Website BackUp)EVEN BILLED ME FOR THINGS I DID NOT AUTHORIZE EXCEPT my DOMAIN NAME - never billed. I noticed my website was down unknowning to me WHY cause to my knowledge they billed me for everything, i gave them a call. They told me it was my responsibility to pay the DOMAIN NAME eventhough they automatically billed my card for everything else, now that the THIRTY DAYS are over I have to pay a $160 FEE. No one at IPOWER could explain why they did not bill the DOMAIN NAME FEE of $10.95 and for the past 7 years they always AUTMOMATICALLY charged my credit card account.

IPower are a joke!

I bought a new domain name and can't get into it - get the run-around over and over and it's so frustrating - they make up a whole lot of rubbish and say my issue is resolved when they didn't help at all and the problem remains - and tell me something really dumb which is so untrue - and on and on it goes - I have been with them for a few years but am transferring my new domain to another host - it's just so weird that I can't create my new site, i can't even access it!! and the answers they give me are just lies I guess.

I got ripped off with Ipower web design. It did cost me up to $4000.00. I am currently trying to get my money back.
