Question

Ipod/iTunes issue

Jun 9, 2015 11:08AM PDT

Hello, I had 22,000+ songs on my laptop iTunes and the same on my iTunes Classic. I upgraded iTunes and lost about 3,000 songs on my laptop. I need to get my iPod collection onto my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know if I sync the two I will end up minus the 3,000 songs on my IPod as well. Thank you.

Answer
I did an experiment using Linux

with my daughter's iPod. It was able to read everything on it. So, get a LIVE DVD of Mint Linux MATE and use that to access the device and copy the files from it to your hard drive. It boots from a DVD drive and doesn't need to be installed and the file manager runs just fine in that "read only" method of running an operating system.

You can visit linuxmint.com and download the ISO file and burn to DVD yourself. Be sure to run it's integrity check on first boot to confirm a good download and image burn to disc.

You can order one for about $6 from OSdisc.com site
