Ipod with built in radio

by mpuccetti / October 5, 2006 3:20 AM PDT

Anybody know if Apple will be comming out with an Ipod with a built in radio?
It would be a great feature for those of us that frequent gyms to have this feature. I think it would be a really great seller too.

No Way

No way. It would ruin Apple's form factor. They're committed to having the smallest and thinest players out there. The only way they can achieve that goal is to leave stuff like FM radios out.

That's why there are so many accessories for iPods. Apple left 'em out.

I purchased an ipod Nano like mp3 player in th UK and it had an fm radio built in and it was as thin as my real Ipod Nano. So a radio wouldn't make it any bigger if they added this feature. It would make it alot more convenient for people who frequent gyms and listen to the tv's via a fm radio feature on a similar devise.

Thinking the same

myself about listening to the TV's in the gym but had three disappointing episodes with Sony FM radios, designed for the gym and wondered if the iPod should have this added extra.

One of the problems with "small" seems to be, at least with Sony, a loss of sound quality, selective tuning and the ability to remain locked onto a particular frequency.

Could it be that to create an FM receiver inside the iPod, not an impossible task, would result in a severe loss of sound quality. Leaving the production of such a device to third party's would allow for a larger, presumably more efficient, FM receiver?

Right now it would appear that an FM radio is not a particularly important function for the majority of iPod purchasers.

Meanwhile, I am still looking for a good, reliable, FM radio for the gym

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
