Ipod wifi problems!!!

Feb 19, 2010 6:43AM PST

This is an aggravating problem. I've asked on so many forums on different sites, and even called Apple and At&t (my ISP) and no one can help me!!

But the problem is my iPod touch does not get on the internet. The ipod says its connected and has full strength, but when I try and do something online, it just loads forever, and nothing comes up. It's not the ipod because when I go to McDonalds or use the neighbor's, it works just fine over the wifi.

I just bought a MacBook this past weekend, and it works great over my house wifi, my my ipod still doesn't work!

There's no security on my router either.

As soon as I turn the wifi on, I can use the internet on the ipod for literally 10 seconds until it stops working. Also, when I type my computer's IP address into the search bar of the ipod, the router home page comes up. So that means something is connecting.

I'm lost on what to do. I know little to nothing about computers. If you need some more information just ask. And do not suggest resetting router,ipod...tried it all.

I've reset the ipod a hundred times. I've reset the router a hundred times. I've pressed the renew lease button a hundred times.

MacBook solution
Feb 21, 2010 11:28AM PST

Ok, this is how I do it. I have a MacBook though.

1. If your Macbook can access your wifi at your house but you ipod can't:
2. Go to system preferences
3. Click network and turn your airport on
4. Then go back into the main menu of system preference
5. Click on sharing
6. Look down the list and turn on "Internet sharing"
7. And on the right "To computers using": Airport

Now go into your ipod wifi list and your laptop should be a possible connection.

Not sure if this works on any windows laptops, but thats how it works on a Mac book, I'll see if I can find that youtube video.

If this doesn't help search this term on youtube because there's a lot other videos and maybe there's other solutions: "how to use ipod touch without wifi"

Although that will work,

it did not solve your original problem.

There is still something intrinsically wrong with your WiFi setup.

Still, that's a minor detail now that you have it working
