iPod vs. Creative Zen Vision:M

by Mr. Moneybags / August 16, 2006 5:02 AM PDT

I am really in a tough situation. I want to get a hard drive based MP3 player, and I've come down to two players; the iPod Video and the Creative Zen Vision:M. I am just 15 years old, and my father gave me the advice to get the iPod, just becuase it is mainstream, so I can buy many accessories, though I don't really care about accessories, because Gomadic.com sells good stuff and SFplanet.com also has accessories for the Zen. I will mainly use my MP3 player for audio. Which has better sound quality? I know the Creative player has better video quality. I want to mainly play Xvid video files on my player, and a few .mpg files. Can the iPod play .mpg files, because I know it can't play Xvid files. I can always convert, just it will be a pain in the butt. I am just in a pickle. The battery life is about the same for the players, but all I am worried about is the sound quality. I don't care about the size of the player, and I don't care about the Gigabeat. All I want is a 30-60GB player with good quality sound that cna play videos. If anybody can help, please do so. I would really appreciate it. Thanks Grin

different things. for audio, the best thing to do is get a new pair of headphones, some upper end ones. check out www.head-fi.org for advice on that.

i like the ZVM because of the available custom EQ. However, the line-out through the ipod is supposed to sound really good, not to mention it supports rockbox, with which is can play OGG vorbis and FLAC (lossless audio) formats.

The ipod cannot play .mpg video files.

The Zen vision M is your choice it has an better sound video extras....the I pod is for people who think a ford tarus is a Lexus. The i pod is a toy, Zen Vision M is a real state of the art machine that out preforms the i pod and every other player in the market. Please do not listen to your father you will be very disappointed.

same here

i am in the same situation as you, except its the gigabeat and the zen vision m. ive decided on the ZVM today. but for you, i would say the ZVM also. i cant really tell you why because i havent really done much research on an ipod. but the EQ on the ZVM is a plus because your main concern is audio.

i have one and is amazing ,both in sound quality and video playback.Ipod may have the accesories but the main thing is the player. The ZVM won the consumer electronic award for best new device and cnet has given it a excellent rating. It has extras such as radio, and voice recorder which are not avialable on the ipod.the ipod may have the popularity but it is plagued with allot for problems like the scratch prone screen ,batteries that fail within months of use.the Zen has a signal to noise ratio of 97 Db which is the best out there(great sound quality).

It's all about the Zen! I was watching an episode of Family Guy at school today with a friend, and he was impressed at how good it looked. He also liked the customizable backdrop and the music which was easy to navigate and great to listen to. I also think that. get the Zen, and you'll get the right one.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
