What does that mean, "More covers." Don't clutter up my discussion with that spam crap. You didn't answer and just pointed me to some Japanese iPod knockoff.

what do you want?
by woohoo22 / August 14, 2006 2:41 PM PDT

you need to ask yourself what is most important to you.

If you want video mainly, look at PMP's. Video is basically a gimmick on these buggers.

I own the ZVM and I love it. It is tied with the iPod for audio battery life, but beats it by about 1.5 hours for video (shouldnt be a deciding factor)

the zvm, however, is the only one that doesnt play a lossless format. it is also the thickest.

I believe the ZVM is the best value, as it has the most features.

but you need to list what you want out of a player for appropriate feedback.

What I Want

I'm looking for a player that mostly plays music, but is good enough with movies so I can watch them on trips. But overall, my focus would be on music.

Has good sound (in my opinion) with longer audio battery life than the gigabeat, and longer video battery than the ipod and gigabeat.

the video accepts many formats and doesnt need to be converted to a specific format to use.

however, if you are EXTREMELY picky about audio, get the ipod or gigabeat for their abilities to play lossless formatted music.

it might help. Gigabeat has 15 services and ipod 5. I also heard something called ipod linux. Not sure what it is exactly. You might want to see what it is. I heard it was a os for ipod or summit. Apple might have better user support too. But the gigabeat can be hooked up to the windows media center edition and transfer tv shows to it. I believe it has a longer batery life as well. So it is your choice.

overall I think the toshiba is probally better than the zen but I would'nt get it for this simple reson: battery life it's apualling! 10hours for audio and 2.5 hours for video thats a disgrace, you would probally have to charge it every night so I would suggest the creative

the ZVM is the obvious choice for your needs becuase of the better lcd screen (265,000 colours) as opposed to the ipod and toshiba(only 65,000 colours), and better battery life 4.5hours for video compared to the others, also the many audio and video formats its supports. The ZVM also has better sound quality S/N ratio of 97 Db. It is true that the ZVM does not have that many accessories as the ipod but belkin,Vaja, altec lansing and other aftermarket companies are starting to come out with products due to the ZVM's popularity.20th century fox willing be offering movies for download soon for the ZVM or toshiba becuase they support windows video media format. The ZVM is your best bet.

Something else to consider - Software
by daveworld / August 16, 2006 12:49 PM PDT

Have you tried the software for the players yet? iTunes, WMP11 etc. I know it may be secondary, but something to consider. Download and try!

yes, have you considered the fairly restrictive nature of Itunes compared to WMP11

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
