I'm also thinking about getting an 30GB iPod Video, so I've been looking up some reviews and here's some pro's and con's about apple's latest gadget

PRO'S
- Extremely slim and sexy
- Big screen ( 2.5 inches )
- Plays video
- Can store up to 75 hours of video, 7,500 photos and 10,000 songs
- Not so expensive as Archos, cowon
- Good quality videos

CON'S
- TERRIBLE battery life ( only 2.5hours for video and 14.7 hours of audio )
- Scartches and fingerprints show
- only support mpeg-4 movies
- iTunes not available in some countries

OVERALL
It's not exactly a 'video iPod' that I was expecting. If you like watching episodes like Lost, O.C, etc- Than it would be nice. BUt it's more an audio player that can play videos as a feature.

Hope it helps

thanks maniacaboutipods.

you know how you said it does play videos like you expected? well it can play other videos although you would have to get your hands on a video converter first unless iTunes has movies for sale to for example like stewie griffin the untold story.

i have also been research apples latest ipod. yesterday i went to the apple store in westfarms mall and tried the iPod video for the first time. when i was there i discovered that all the research can be worth it. if you still have questions when you go to the apple store thats why they have so many associates.

please if you find any more info can you send it to me. thanks aheaad of time.

hope this helps.

i CAN
Apr 30, 2006 4:47AM PDT

I had an ipod video for 3 months and it broke on me. I could barely watch one movie on it. The battery life was so bad. And the quality of the video sucked. After my battery died out, i returned it and got another. Then after one weeek it said there was a hardrive problem and it broke. So i tried one more time. After two days of owning the third one it would not upload any of my songs to the ipod. So i strayed from apple and i got a Creative Zen Vision M. All i can say is.... SO MUCH BETTER OMG. BETTER BATTERY LIFE. UP TO 5 HRS FOR MOVIES. FM TUNER, VOICE RECORDER, I CAN SET PICTURES AS MY BACKROUNDS, BETTER VIDEO QUALITY,OMG. I CAN GO ON AN ON. FORGET THE IPOD GO WITH THE ZEN. IT WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!@!@!@

Why would you need a hard case when u can get something that is smaller, chaper, and works better. i dont use a case for my zen i just use the full body protector. What you want just makes no sense.

Looking into what? Why even consider a case when you can buy the screen protector. IF your comp is full of trojans go to the library or get a new computer. You an idiot in the first place for considering an ipod. I am telling you youll be happier with a creative zen

The video quality is good on the iPod Video- but, it's not a video player, it's more of an music video player.

So what
May 1, 2006 8:28AM PDT

The Creative Still has better sound quality and better battery life. It also has an fmtuner and a voice recorder. You can also set pictures as your backrounds. The navigations is 20 times quicker and easier, and The storage capacity is better. The zen can hold 15,000 songs and the ipod can only hold 7,500. Why, you may ask. IT is just becuase how the ipod is made. I only supports aac music formats. That format takes up twice the space for the same sound quality. The zen can hold more formats such as mp3. mp3 can take up less space and better sound quality. It is your choice in the end i am just trying to lead you in the right direction. I have studied mp3players for over a year and i know what i am talking about. You just want the ipod becuase it is thin, yet you talk about getting a big case. You want it becuase of all the accessories, except that most of them are pointless and too expensive for what you get. You want it becuase every one else has it. Why dont u become unique. And you want it becuase it has the clickie wheel. The zen tough strip is more efficient and faster. You also like the fact that if has itunes. There are more music stores out there that are cheaper and sell music and music videos. The only thing itunes has that everone else doesnt are the tv shows that you pay 2 dollars for. Yet you can watch them for free on your t.v. I am an expert in the mp3player department. I have studied the hardrives, software, ect, and i can tell you the ipod is not the best. Creative is. I hope you chose the right brand. I just want to help you and not let you waste 300 dollars. I garuntee you that you will regret not buying the zen. Just go try it out at Best Buy. Thanks

They are labeled 'iPod haters' around here.

If you are looking to get the iPod Video, take it from me you won't be disappointed. But keep in mind that it's an mp3 player first (Like maniacaboutipods said). So the battery will only last 2 hours. But the quality is still gooood.

I previously owned the (3g- touch button) iPod and the iPod Mini. Now I have in my house the iPod Video and the iPod Nano, so I have experience with the iPods. The iPod Video never leaves my side it is so addictive. Filled with my entire music collection, Videos, Music Videos, TV Shows, Movies and more.

The key to the iPod is the fact that it makes everything so damn seamless. You organize your music in iTunes. You subscribe to podcast, can buy movies, videos etc and just simple plug in the iPod, sync and go!

Hey daveworld listen up
May 1, 2006 9:42AM PDT

I am not an ipod hater. You are right about it being seamless with itunes. Except for the fact that there is napster, yahoo music unlimited, reaphsody, and msn that do the same thing as itunes and they work with lots of other mp3players including the zens. The only thing they dont have are t.v shows whcih you can watch on tv for free. The actual ipod itself is a horrible device. I dont despise them. Steve did a good job of getting the message out there. If only he made the player better. The fact is that ipods are not the best. Creative is. I have examined the quality of the ipod including the battery, software, harddrive, ect. They Creative line has better quality and more featuers for the same price. It is just common knowledge. It is like buying a toothbrush. If you had the choice between the electric tooshbrush and the travel brush and they were the same price, which one would you get? The electric tooshbrush, i am assumming. Only retards would take the travel one. Now lets add advertising. If the travel one advertised a lot and the electric one didnt, and no one knew about the electric one, no one would chose it. Only smart people would realize taht there is something better for the same price. That is the deal with the ipods. The ipod is not the greatest, but it is advertiesd a lot. So people think it is better.

Riddle me this
May 1, 2006 10:55AM PDT

What's the major difference between Yahoo, MSN, Napster and the other clones? They all sell the same music for the same price, the same music you get on iTunes. And iTunes has over 2 Million, many of the others don't offer that much as yet, (I think only Napster). My point is if they all pretty much offer the same thing, it diminishes the whole argument about choice. When these services start to really innovate and differentiate themselves from each other, then I may start to complain about choice. Yeah some have subscription, but most people rather own 'their' music than rent. Wink

Yes the iPods are not the best on paper (specs), but where it falls short; it makes up for it in other areas. I actually like what the Zen offers, but I would still choose the iPod, here is why:

Ease of use: To date, there's no other combination that's easier to use than the iPod/iTunes combo. Some finally started to come close after years of trying.

iTunes: Content, content, content, all in one place. Over 2 mil. Songs, TV shows, music videos, free podcast, Audio books and more. The other service like Napster doesn?t offer all of these in one place like iTunes. You want podcast, Audiobooks, TV shows etc. for your none iPod player, good luck searching. If you are not a geek, you will have a hard time finding ways to add all these things to your player. Oh and make sure to bookmark the playForShure website so you can check if your player you just bought is compatible.

I think you guys; yes 'iPod haters' need to understand there's people in this world that like products that just works. Sad to here you had problems with your previous iPods (If true) but all I can say is one bad 'Apple' does not spoil the whole bunch.
