iPod Video 60GB

Dec 27, 2008 3:41AM PST

Hello everyone,

I have an iPod 5th Gen 60 GB and my left channel audio is not working. I've had a little static the past few months, but I did not think much of it, static is minimal, you can just increase the volume and it will go away. iTunes recommended me to update the iPod to firmware 1.3 (up from 1.2) and now I lost the left channel. At least there is no static in the right! I read on the Apple forums that this seems to be a pretty big problem, but there was no solution on the site. I've tried cleaning out the jack with a q-tip, trying 6 different pairs of headphones, you name it. I've taken pretty good care of this iPod, no reason for it to just die like this...

Going to Apple tomorrow...what should I expect?

Not much except for them to fix it.

But the iPod I have is a replacement in which they gave me a "refreshed" unit. It had dings and scratches on it when I got it, so maybe they might be flexible with a replacement?

If all else fails, I wonder if Apple still does their Upgrade program...
