iPod USB not working on one computer

Jun 23, 2005 11:24PM PDT

My new iPod can be recognized by several computers, but not my laptop at work. If you plug it in, it doesn't come up as another drive. A co-worker's iPod works with my work laptop running XP(pro) and my iPod is recognized by their PC. There is something blocking my iPod from being recognized on my work PC. I am thinking that perhaps there is some lockout with iPod and iTunes software since the master is my PC at home which also runs XP(home)? I reformatted the iPod and reinstalled the iPod sw on the work PC, but not iTunes sw. Any ideas?

iPOD USB not working

hello,

I saw your question in the Digital music forum. Can you tell if you have been able to resolve the problem.

I bought a new iPod and I first used it on my friend's computer and later I try to install the iPod software on my comptuer and when it comes to connect your iPod, it fails to recognize the iPod. I have tried everything I could think of but it is not able to configure my iPod.

The posts are fine except the details about the host PCs are missing. Not a word that USB works on said machines or if it's the required USB 2.0 ports. Also missing are make and models.

Hopefully you can understand why no one responded.

your iPod on your friends machine.
Then try it on yours.
Make sure that you set the iPod preferences, on your friends machine, to only allow a manual synch.
If you don't, and the iPod is recognized by your machine, it will delete all the tracks you have on it.
