iPod Touch; Why it's good and why you SHOULDN'T Cut it Down!

Oct 5, 2007 1:53PM PDT

Hello fellow forums members. This post here is of course about the iPod Touch, supposing you read the title LOL.
I have come to find that when you Google "iPod Touch reviews", many of the reviews, or at least the first results, contain praising results.

However, there's always the issue of comparing it to the iPhone. People like the iPod aspect of it, but despise Apple for taking out the iPhone's part. For instance, the lack of Bluetooth, a brushed steel casing, or whatever term is used to describe it, Mail, iCal features, and Notes seem to be recurring topics among its "negative side". Here's why you shouldn't pick on these.

1. Bluetooth is still relatively new to the Mp3 market. As far as I'm concerned, the yet-to-be-released Samsung YP-P2 is the only PVP that actually has it installed. Sure, Bluetooth is great, but wasting battery power to hook up to your cell phone or earpiece (or Mac) isn't worth it. Not even for headphones.

2. I do feel that the iPod stainless steel casing is annoying due to the high potential of scratching it, but it's probably there to make the Touch seem more like an iPod. Makes it shinier too. Not that important, but be sure to pick up a case or keep it away from other objects.

3. Mail and iCal... I can understand the problem with the lack of iCal features in the Touch because it would be annoying to have to use a PC or Mac to continuously update it, especially when you're on-the-go. I DON"T miss the Mail app too much. Nope. One, you can go online and use email through Safari, which happens to work extremely well. Two... Someone may argue this but here it goes: Mail was taken out because Apple had not written it for the Touch. What I mean by this is that perhaps Mail on the iPhone was designed to specifically work on an EDGE network, and though it works with Wi-Fi on the iPhone, it hasn't been made ready for the Touch. But that's my guess, other than the fact that Apple doesn't want "to infringe" on its iPhone market. Notes doesn't bother me much. I never even need them my Macs.

Basically, the Touch is just the greatest iPod yet. Sure, it doesn't have a whopping 160GB HD, but the Classics have been reported to be awfully slow, and I'd rather have a few GB of good songs that are quick to access on Flash Memory. And for right now, the Touch has twice the storage of the iPhone (the 16GB version), so why go for a bigger HD if it's twice that of its older brother and was made to be a FLASH PLAYER. I have no complaints. YouTube has the videos and movies to watch, and there's plenty of room for Music, so why bother with that?
Speaker- I could use it, but again, it does not bother those who are more accustomed to using iPods everyday.

It's not an iPhone, but rather a completely different spin-off for the rest of us iPod lovers. It's great and can really just get better. Post here if you please. Who agrees or disagrees with me? Anything I left out?
I mean come on, this thing is just great.
