Ipod Touch vs Creative Zen

Apr 27, 2008 5:25PM PDT

I'm having serious trouble deciding between getting an Ipod Touch or the Creative Zen. I've had a Zen Vision: M for about 2yrs now but it's bulky size is getting on my nerves. Sound and video quality are a big thing for me. I've had a chance to try out a Touch and was pretty impressed with the screen, everything seemed so crisp. The sound seemed ok, my ZVM tops it, and no videos or pictures for me to compare. I haven't had a chance to try out the Zen yet. I was thinking about buying and returning one of the cheap lower gig versions as a trail. The Touch's touch screen didn't really impress me, and I don't like the idea of being unable to use it blind when it's in my pocket or something. I'd have to take it out and unlock it everytime. I can only assume the Zen surpasses the great sound and video quality already found on my ZVM. So which player would be better, the Zen or Touch? Do you have either, are you happy with it??

ZEN - Great for watching video

The zen has a brilliant screen color support, it will make your videos look nice. It does support a wide range of formats saving conversion time.. the video convertor software they include is also simple to use, quite convenient.

While I have the Touch and love it, it's not my only player and I mainly use it for videos.

That said, if you're not all that impressed with the Touch, why spend the extra money on it? It is overpriced and you won't be happy with it.

Ipod Touch vs Creative Zen

I'm amazed at what my new Zen can do. I got the 32 gb which runs a couple hundred below the Touch w/same gb. I don't care about the Touch features for online access etc...so this is perfect for me. I also like the recording feature which has decent quality for recording my acoustic guitar. I find the Zen easy to use& impressive w/ lots of memory storage-it is definitely alot smaller than the Vision, plus it has the SD card for add'l space.

Depends on what you need it for

The main reasons to get the Touch are for its Internet capabilities and all the things you can do after you've jailbroken it. I'd choose it over the Zen if only it were a little cheaper.

I used to own a Creative ZEN V Plus, and it was excellent. I think you can expect the same quality from all the Creative players.

Google Maps, email, internet

Google Maps, email, internet are what sets the Touch apart from the pack. The usability/interface is amazing, like a little laptop in your pocket. But then Creative has other features you may want, only you can make that decision. Lack of hard buttons is a bummer but not a deal killer 4 me. The coverflow interface with album covers is awsome.

The internet and other features are what sold me, spend as much time using those features as using it as a media player. And with the future apps/sdk aroound the bend, lots of cool new apps to download coming soon.

IPOD or Zen

Read a couple of reviews and find out which one is more popular. If you just want a media player then the Zen is cheaper. If you want a media player and much more I would go with the touch. I myself chose the Touch because of the slick interface and thought I might use some of the other features. I'm glad I did because I love checking email and surfing the net.

I'm just turning very anti apple. The Zen is a great little unit and gives you plenty of bang for your buck. Personally I just got the Zena dn am very happy. Just get a skin for it!

Zen

I've had the Zen Vision M for almost 2 years now. I was looking for an MP3 player any brand except Ipod. When i saw it and was almsot like the ipod video almost decide to buy it then i read the reviews and that was more than i needed to buy one. It has a bright screen, good sound, you can load it with any music, video from almost any provider. Rarely (if any) you have to do any video conversion (it includes the software for that)i loaded mine with tons of pics, music and videos. A friend made 3 dvd's with music videos and had no problem downloading them to my Zen some of the required conversion and it was done almost automatically (it prompts you). The videos play smooth like a TV and you can do a slide show of your pics while you listen to music. It has an fm tuner a microphone. The only drawback on the microphone is that it starts recording 2 seconds after you press record but whatever you recod sounds clear. The only advantage the Ipod touch has it that it can be connected to the internet and the Zen not. Also the Zen is cheaper than the Ipod.
