that sometime in the distant future. If you have heard about the problems with Apple and all the iPhone hackers, you can see that Apple really wants to lock down this touch-screen interface, since it's still a 1.0 OS. But, I have found ways to use the Touch to do these things without modifying it.
If you use AIM for email or Yahoo, etc., you can login online if you have a Wi-Fi connection. You can text your friends through email to their cell phones, or other emails, etc. Not IM, but I've tried this, and texting to phones happened to be really quick. Notepad: for now, try using a calendar app. I use iCal, but judging by your user name, you may prefer the Windows equivalent. However, you can't do this on the actual iPod; you'll need a PC.
As of now, there aren't any of these specific apps that you're looking for, but try adapting the Touch's software to your advantages. It may work for you.
Hope this helped,

I will be purchasing the ipod touch. But I was just wondering before making a purchase; will the ipod touch have third party applications for download later in time? Applications like notepad, IM, etc?
Any information would be great. Thanks in advance
