The iPod Video or iPod Nano are in two different categories.

iPod Video
$299 (30 gig)
$299 (60 gig)
Hard disk Player
Plays Music & Videos (7,500 to 15,000 songs)
Slim and sexy
Scratch easily (will need a case)

iPod Nano
Flash Player
1 gig ($150 240 songs)
2 gig ($200 500 songs)
4 gig ($250 1,000 songs)
Better for working out with (won't skip ever)
Amazingly slim, light & sexy
Scratch easily (will need a case)

All depends how you will be using the iPod and how much music you want to carry with you at times.
