IPOD NANO USB

I have a question...my battery needs charging on my ipod nano and i dont have a usb cable for it but i charged it up for a second at my friends house on his usb cable that he used for his CREATIVE Zen Mp3 player. It actually supplied it with a bit of fuel for the player but i was just wondering if you HAVE to use a special ipod usb? By the way i plugged the small usb end of the cable into my iTrip.
