iPod Nano: Problems with battery.

Nov 6, 2007 8:09AM PST

Hello !

I have an iPod Nano, this device works good when is connected to energy, but when you disconnect this device the system says the battery has not enought charge and after some seconds turns off by itself.

Something is wrong with the battery I know, U just want to know if there is some way in order to change or fix this battery, it is possible doing this? or simply I have to buy another one? Did I lose my nano?

Thank you!

And type in IPOD BATTERY you find the usual 20 buck batteries. There are also companies that will change it for you.

OK, I get it

I was looking those web sites.

All of them offer replacement services, but I would like to do it by myself. I was reading those web sites give to you only the battery and a little tool for opening the iPod.

What kind of tools do I need for replacing my battery?
Scissors (why?), a welder for electronics devices is necesary?

Thanx

..hmmm hope this will help..
Nov 7, 2007 10:39AM PST

hmmmm.. well i just checked out ipodjuice.com and they say that "its too difficult for the avg. consumer to replace". they say that they'll do it for you.. HOWEVER if you really want to do it by yourself read the nano pg. ..or this->(FROM IPODJUICE.COM)
Note: If you are familiar with soldering, feel up to the challenge, and want to install the battery yourself, proceed through the checkout process until you see the section that says ?Please consider adding these products to your order?. Look for the item that says ?Remove Installation Charge? for a negative dollar amount. Add a quantity of 1 and make sure to hit ?Add to Cart? so that you will not be charged for the installation. This tells us that you understand that there will be no tools or instructions with your battery and you want to install the battery yourself. However, if you really do want us to install the battery for you, do not worry about this extra step...Hope this helped!!

I get it

It is OK

I know how to weld electronic components, I used to use that welding tool before, besides when I was in school we made some print circuits, so it is not difficult, you know... they sell that service so they always gonna say "it is risky, dangerous, delicate... we will do it for you, just pay me" and blah, blah, blah.
I saw others web sites that say changing the batteries are not difficult, I would like to do it by myself... I just want to know what I need.
I saw the batteries with a little plug or connector, so I am just wondering WHERE welding goes... Apple just want to do it hard for us uh?
It is challenging. I will let you know when I change this freaking battery.

I did it !

I've opened my iPod (it was very easy !!) and I fix it by myself.

I was looking for some information about ipod batteries in internet and I found manufactures say 80% of those problems come from lose connections.

I opened my iPod nano, I checked my battery conector, I reconnected it again.

Now my iPod nano is working fine ! 7 hours of continued music with no pause ! it is great instead of change battery... I did it by myself.

Advice: Many people can say a lot of things about matters like this, YOU have to find information about your problem, it might be solved for you in some cases but anyway: More information can't hurt!

Can you imagine: Paying 50/60/70 plus extra dollars for a profesional "battery change" and maybe those people don't change anything or do a simple 20 minutes thing !

I solved my problem. Its cost: 0.00 USD but 20 minutes.

Just an advice: LongLast Battery.com
Dec 3, 2007 7:37AM PST

I had a very bad experience with LongLastBattery.com

They sell battery for iPods, I try to get a new one in order to fix another defective iPod.
I know how to identify an iPod so I think I have asked for the right battery, but they sent a wrong battery. I sent it back and I asked for my money.
Long time before I have only a few bucks (lees than the half of my money) because they took some "restock fee", I sent back the battery 'cause they sent a WRONG battery so the "restock fee" doesn't make any sense in that point. I wasted my money paying USPS for sending that battery back, they should pay me for that mistake.
They admited their mistake before.
BUT now they are saying it was my bad. ('cause I am asking for my whole money)
Besides: They don't send any detail information about their product in their electronic invoice. They don't send any invoice with the product. So I don't have any proof in order to demostrate they sent the wrong item.
Now, they have my money, their fees and their product.
Me: I wasted my time, money and health.

That was my experience. I hope this can help.

Thats too bad!

I purchased a battery from www.longlast-battery.com and everything went fine, I think its just one of those random orders out of thousands that go wrong. Every Company has things go wrong, look at Best Buy http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Best_Buy
Are you going to stop shopping there now?
Anyway I recommend Longlast Battery, they don't sell cheap generic batteries that are sold by everyone and their mother! Its name brand and factory Direct.

Yea thats true!

I shop everywhere online and I always do my Homework on a Company before I buy something, speaking of Longlast battery I purchased a new replacement battery from them and had them professionally install it for me. Everything went perfect, the battery isnt generic like everyone else's and I purchased it straight from the Factory not middlemen or guys working from their garage, lol.
Hope this helps.

Mmmm
Jan 6, 2008 7:54AM PST

I never said the battery was "generic or simple, common, cheap or whatever you want to call it"

Maybe the battery is a good quality one, maybe is excellent !
I never gonna know that.

My point is about their behavior regarding MY case, My point is they sent me a WRONG ONE ( can u understand that?) and then they took a RE-Stock FEE for sending it back ! Do you think that is a FAIR TREATMENT ?

I am NOT talking about qualities or job they do.

That was my experience. That's it! I think this could help some common user (like me) in order to get more information.

P.S.: Not to have any kind of information about the item in the package (model, serial number or what kind of iPod works with) is not too clear, profesional, specific, ethic or whatever you wan to call it (again)... then you never gonna know what you are buying. That is your idea of a good deal?

Greetings.

O yea!

Yea your right I see your point now, sorry about that. I guess something happed to it in the Factory because mine showed the model on the front and on the back it shows you how to access your invoice online! But that sux about the shipping and restocking fee.

longlast-battery.com Sucks!!!!! They are a joke of a Co.
Aug 11, 2009 9:02AM PDT

Everyone should know that these guys are actually a one man show! They never answer the phone, even if you are interested in buying from them and have questions! The batteries they carry are not good quality, regardless of the LIFETIME warranty that they WILL NOT Honor! Everyone should put my opinion to the TEST! Try to call them at 800-640-7068 (This tel # is right off their website) and see if they answer? I had purchased 2 batteries for my PDA and they died a few months after. The problem is that they sell old stock, the batteries go bad, then they don't care about resolving the issue because Visa or Mastercard won't help after 60 days or so. This is when you find out that the product is defective. This is quit a scam they have going here!

My best advise for all is to pay the extra money and buy the batteries ditrectly from the manufacturer of the product that needs the battery replacement, as they will at least offer a 1 year warranty that will actually be honored! Live and learn! I did!

Again..........longlast-battery.com Sucks!!!!!

Buyer Beware LongLast Battery
Sep 7, 2011 10:42PM PDT

This guy's post is on spot. I paid for a new battery for my Droid X and they never sent it to me. I have tried calling on several occasions and all they have is a sales number that consistently sends you to voice mail. Did they return my calls? Absolutely not. Yes, I was respectful with my messages as well.
I tried several emails to their support department and none of them were answered.
This company is crooked and their support information, including response, is abysmal.
Buyer Beware.
