Your choice of MP3 device won't matter.
I am about to put together a 'real' soundsytem (have depended upon bookshelf system with a 6 disk changer - ugh) and rather than waste time with a CD player, I'd like to migrate to storing all music files on a detachable hardrive, and for lack of a better way, would use an MP3 player to drive the system: generate playlists, and so on.
My questions are: which player will suit this purpose best, based upon sound quality output (I've read some not so happy reports that Apple's Classic has tinny sound which only gets muddy if adjusted) and connectivity, functionality and perhaps issues I haven't yet identified!
A hard drive model player would work since I don't plan on moving it around alot, but the flashdrives are getting great reviews for dependability, since no moving parts. I also have yet to decide upon which receiver, and since it will need HDMI inputs and multizone capability, any suggestions on that would be appreciated. The interface between player and system is a critical issue also, and lesser developed brands might not have as much to offer - a cradle that connects/powers with remote capacity would be ideal.
