Ipod movie/TV - Can you add downloads not from apple store?

Oct 13, 2005 1:15AM PDT

Okay, so one to make others scratch their heads. Before I buy the new ipod (mine is dying). I want to ask has anyone else tried to add movies, TV stuff to itunes 6 that has been downloaded elsewhere, as I can't find a way to do this, and hope someone can either advise or tinker with the open source to allow this!

I do know that you can "add to library" .mov and .avi files. They will play in the video viewer at the bottom left of the screen, in iTunes. They do not appear to play in the regular QuickTime Player type window.
I am guessing that if QT will play it, then iTunes will store it.

if you click in the little window at the bottom left of the screen, while the video is playing, it appears in a regular QT window.
