iPod Classic Screen problem

Feb 8, 2009 12:46PM PST

I have an iPod Classic 80gb, and just recently started having some problems with my screen. There are green and purple streaks and pixelation on the screen. Everything else works fine, and the screen seems to be having "mood swings". Sometimes, i'll wake up in the morning and the screen will look perfectly normal. Then, at a later point it reverts back to the weird green/purple tinted screen.
Any ideas???

Hardware or Software ?

Could be an intermittent fault on the screen, its connector or the mainboard. Could be corruption.

The first is the most likely (especially if you've dropped the player)and least likely to be fixable economically.

The second might be fixable by wiping the drive and reinstalling the software (and firmware if that's poss).

The common issue for this fault is the battery has become disconnected or failed.

You didn't tell which ipod so I stop here.

Tried restoring...
Feb 10, 2009 1:37PM PST

but it's still the same. and now, when i try to sync, it will start the sync fine, but freeze up part way through. Then it won't sync at all when i unplug it and plug it back in (even though iTunes does recognize it). Gonna take it into the Apple Store (still under warranty) but i'm not too hopeful. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know...

Look at your posts.

So little detail. At the very least you should consider what the 'words in red' ask for.

Ideas?

1. Try the rear USB port of the desktop. Remember that you only have revealed you have a weird purple at times screen iPod so non-applying and bad advice may be given.

2. Does this ipod work with other machines?

3. Are you going to try Floola? (see google.)

Your choice on detail.

Read those words in red when you post. Consider that we don't know what you don't tell.

Some members remember this is just like I pulled over to help you change a tire. If you hop back into the drivers seat and wait for me to finish the job then I hop back in mine too.

Okay...

My computer is a ZT Systems Core 2 Quad running 32 bit Vista Home Premium. Black iPod Classic 80 gigabyte. iTunes 8.
Doesn't work on other machines, or different usb ports. Not gonna try Floola.
Anything else?

That's not good.

Since you're not up to Floola, try the resets, the pause button and ANOTHER cable. Finally head to a Apple store and ask them to try it. Tell them it's alright for them to try a reset.

Have tried resetting and another cable, but what do you mean by the "pause button"?

No problems like that here.

I always humor the Apple.

I did the 5r's before I head to the Apple store since I know they'll ask. I even print it out and use a pen to place a check mark on each one as I complete it.

I will do it. I'm going on Monday, so hopefully everything will work out fine. Thanks for the help.
