iPod

Hey everyone,

I just switched back to Windows 98 and am loving it although my iPod doesn't work well. I know that there is no iTunes for 98 and I have a driver for my iPod that I downloaded. I tested it out using Media Monkey and was able to take off and put music on my iPod but one thing I realized is that the only things I was able to put on were mp3's and not the mp4a's from cd's that I imported in iTunes on other machines. I need advice on what to use that will recognize all my music and will be able to then transfer it to the iPod. I also would love to have someone recommend a program that can do playlists like iTunes can. The two programs I'm asking for would be better if it was one that could do both but if it's 2 media players I'll have to use, one for iPod and one for listening on my computer, that's fine too.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

More research...

Try "ITUNES ALTERNATIVES" on google.com

Sadly our last Windows 98 and ME machine went to silicon heaven so I can no longer test such things.

Also that IPODLOUNGE.com used to have a place for Windows 98/me refugees.

Found the solution!
Aug 30, 2007 11:24PM PDT

Here's a note to every iPod user in 98. I have found the greatest solution to iPod problems. There is a great free Media Player called Media Monkey which is well worth the download, nice and small and works very well. It has full iPod support but the only problem is that it doesn't work with mp4a files, mp3's and others are fine but the default format for anything you have ripped in iTunes can't be played. So I found a great program called Switch for converting audio tracks. Google it and you will find it. It's the fastest audio converter there is and it works beautifully. I'm converting all my audio to mp3 and then Media Monkey will love it and my iPod will too.

Hope this is useful or people, so that all my research won't be in vain!
