iphoto and dowloading

Jul 31, 2007 6:42AM PDT

You know when you start to type something in a text field and it automatically brings up the thing you typed previously with the starting letters? How do you get that to stop? It's annoying.

Also, I can NOT download a CD that can be viewed on a PC from iphoto. I've tried everything!! Even when you export the photos into a different place... yeah it's not working. Any tips for me?

iPhoto and downloading

The fill in thing is called Auto Fill and is considered by many to be a help.
You don't have to accept what it puts in there, just keep typing. Autofill is specific to each program that uses it and needs to be turned off in that particular program.
What program is causing you annoyance?

Downloading usually refers to the act of bring a file down off the internet (or such place) onto your computer.
From what you are saying I guess you are trying to create (burn) a CD with your pictures on it. Is that so?

burning from iphoto

Yes. You are absolutely right. ( I shouldn't type when I'm in a hurry.) I am having difficulties burning a CD from iphoto that will allow me to view the photos on a PC.

Burning from iPhoto

Athough the contents look a little funky, disks that are burned using the Share function of iPhoto are readable on a PC. At least they are on the ones in my office. (XP and W2K)
The CD top level contains a folder called iPhoto Library. Inside the folder should be three items.
A folder called Data
A folder called Originals
and another file.
Inside the Originals folder you will find, if you dig deep enough, a folder that contains a copy of the original pictures. Wow!, I hear you say, and I agree.

A better way is to put a blank CD into your burner and let the Finder ask you what application you want to handle it. Choose Finder. The Disk will mount on the desktop.
Open iPhoto, resize the window so that you can see the mounted CD, select the pictures you want to burn and drag them from iPhoto onto the CD.
When you eject the CD, it will burn it and the resulting disk will be usable on a Mac or PC.

Once written to, that disk is finalized so no further writing is possible. There is a way around that but that's another story.

Let me know how you get on
