then, edit them online on your PC/Mac, then re-import to your iPhone so you get them to display as you require.
The cloud is useful in this regard sometimes.
I have an iPhone 4 and want to edit the contacts via my computer without syncing! I simply want to be able to edit with the keyboard which is much easier and quicker than tapping away with one finger on my phone, given the volume of information that I can enter for each contact.
On my previous phone (not a smartphone) I had the contacts in the phone memory, this being a more user-friendly display. When the tech (in the shop where I bought the phone) put these on the sim card to transfer to my iPhone, the end result was that some contacts now have separate entries for each phone number (i.e. home and mobile). Some numbers did not transfer at all. This is another reason why I want to edit on my keyboard - nearly every contact needs editing in some way.
I tried iCloud and iTunes (to be honest I still don't know what the connection is between the 2, if any!) The result was disastrous because I ended up with all my Outlook (2010) contacts on my iPhone. I do not want this as I have a large number of contacts for fundraising and work purposes on my computer that I don't want on my phone. I also tried checking boxes in iTunes to choose which Outlook contact folders, but this is not suitable either. I simply want to choose individual contacts, not whole folders. Another downside of this process is that my Outlook contacts ended up in one HUGE folder and I had to spend many hours re-creating folders and re-sorting all my contacts!!
My old Samsung SGH-F480 came with simple software to edit with my keyboard. Is there a program like this that is simply a connection between the phone and computer which doesn't involve syncing? Pleeeease give me the simple life back!!!
