iphone addition to family plan

Is it possible to add another iphone usage to an existing iphone plan, as a family member?

There is no such thing as an iPhone plan. You can add any combination of phones on a shared plan and each mobile # can have it's own features. Just because one user has an iPhone doesn't have any effect on the other lines on the account. I am not certain what your concern is, please clarify.

it is different to the normal "smart phone" plan on all the carriers.

Each iPhone must have its own data plan, they are not allowed to share.

For now, today, we see what you noted for plans. I see Apple may enter the carrier space soon as possibly a MVNO (see google.)

plans with required features. The voice part is the plan and the data is a feature. I agree that there is no shared data currently, only voice (airtime) is shared among the plan members on a shared plan. An iPhone, or any smart phone, does require a data plan and that is not in question.

This summer Verizon's unleashing group data. I presume that might include the iPhone. YMMV.
