Question

Iphone 5 vs. Sony Xperia Z1s vs. HTC One (M7) Help??

Sep 19, 2015 8:16AM PDT

I'm switching to T mobile and I'm looking for a phone that's on the cheaper end. These three phones are the ones I've narrowed it down to. I'm looking for something that has a good battery life. I've only had android my whole life so I've never had the iphone, but I do have an ipod classic and macbook. I love the 20mp camera on the sony, but definitely read some up and down reviews on each of these. I know the iphone 5 is older than the other two, but the 5s and 6 aren't in my price range.

What I'm looking for:

-good battery life
-good life in general (won't die after a year)
-fast, not glitchy when opening apps

Any and all comments are appreciated. Thanks!

The thing about battery time and life (two things)

Battery time varies on use and apps so no one can tell you if you get hours or days per charge. Battery life is in the 300 cycle range so if you use it daily then sometime at 1 to 2 years you want a new battery. This is a non issue to me as I find I can replace batteries even when it's not one that is "user swappable."

OK for best battery time on my android phone I never install any ad supported app. I turn off GPS, Bluetooth and put it into airplane mode a lot. That is on the web so I may not share all the tips.

I have a few too many phones so for price I like the Blu Life one with 1GB RAM, 8GB flash unlocked from amazon. The one we have is on TING.COM which is the Tmobile system.

Thanks but

Thanks for the advice, but I'm only looking at the three phones I mentioned in the subject line. I do agree though that it depends on the user's amount of usage during the day. I'll keep that in mind.

Then if you used Android then get Android.

If you never used Android get the Apple. Keeping it simple.

things to consider

good battery life - depends on the phone and your usage
good life in general - depends on your usage and the phone. also every model has their share of lemons
fast, not glitchy when opening - again, it depends on the phone , your usage and what is running in the background.

You really never know how a phone will respond to your usage until you get it. You cannot go by what others say because their opinion is based on their own usage which could be 100 percent different than yours.

Android vs apple, again it depends what you need a phone for. If you purchased many apps, then you need to stick with android because you cannot transfer them to apple.

The biggest different between the two is apple is a bit more secure because of their closed environment. and you can do more screen customizing with android.

one other thing to consider, you are looking at older models. On bad thing about older models is updates. You never know how they will react with newer updates - if they get them.

Which is the Best?

As long as you're not set on Android, the iPhone 5s edges out as the slightly better choice, thanks to its combination of good looks, premium build, sharp screen, fantastic camera and all the beautiful thrills that iOS 7 has to offer.

Having said that, the Xperia Z1 Compact offers a waterproof build, plenty of power, a decent camera and a formidable battery life for £430 - £120 less than the iPhone 5s.

You can't go wrong either way, so enjoy whichever one ends up gracing your pockets.
