I have the Apple AV adapter connected from my iphone5 to my 1080P TV using the HDMI cable. My iphone display is fine but the TVs I have tried (both 1080p) only display about 75% of the screen with the black border around the screen. Ive tried changing the TV display modes .ie 16:9,,full,zoom etc. with not much difference. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info...
My daughter has a ROKU 3 that I think I'll try feeding the iphone stream to and see what that looks like.
FWIW, I've read conflicting info whether or not the VGA & HDMI versions can pass along 1080p content to different HDTVs. While I believe I was able to pass along one instance of 1080p w/ the digital AV adapter from my wife's 4th gen iPad, I am not 100% certain.
