Question

iPhone 4S will not boot after power button repair

Feb 2, 2014 11:56PM PST

I have changed out 2 iPhone 4S power buttons in the past week or so and both would not boot past the apple logo after. What looks like DOS prompt and code starts running and possible a security error. I change broken screens all the time and have never seen this happen until I changed the power buttons. Is this a new security feature? Is there a work around?

Answer
You killed it

Sounds like you killed it to me. Sorry. Sometimes it is possible to damage the handset when performing a repair. Been there, done that.

it boots with the button unplugged

thanks for the guess but that's not the case either. When I unplug the new power button and turn on the device (with the wall plug) it starts up no problem.

I don't think you understood....

....Pepe7's response. If you have to unplug the new power button for it to work, either the button is faulty or there is a contact issue where it plugs in.
