Question

iphone 4s video upload to emachine won't sync audio/video

Jun 3, 2012 2:52PM PDT

Help!? When I upload my iphone 4S video to emachine et1810, the audio and video are out of sync when I play them from my computer. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling quick time player, but the problem still exists when using both windows media player and quick time player. The computer uses windows 7 home premium. I have uploaded several videos to youtube from this iphone and they are all in sync on youtube. I'm thinking the issue is with my emachine in some way. Can somebody help me?.

You might talk to eMachines tech support.

Could be an issue with the onboard video board not being powerful enough to keep up with the audio. How old is the eMachine?

The reason I asked about the age of the eMachine is that I had a similar issue several years ago with an eMachine. In that case, my option was to either buy a new computer or try to install a dedicated video board in the eMachine that may or may not have been supported. I replaced my computer instead. Good luck.

my emachine et1810 is less than 3 years old. I'm not surprised by your remark. I am surprised that I don't see more forum discussion regarding this topic and emachines if it is common. I will try emachine tech support. i believe the VLC download would require me to manually edit each video whenever I play it, but I will download and try it. Right now I can't delete the videos from my iphone until I have a solution. I may have to just buy a better computer.

One more thought.

Have you verified that you have the latest video/audio drivers in your computer ??

No, I have not. How do I best do that?

You need to ....

First, identify the manufacturer and model of the video card (which is probably integrated in the motherboard and shares system resources).

Second, go to the manufacturer internet site and do a search for driver updates.

Third, if there is an available driver download and install it.

One more thought, how much system RAM is installed in the computer ? RAM is relatively cheap and might help your situation.

I checked and I have 3 GB (2.75GB usable) of RAM in my emachine et1810

I'd try VLC Player next.

It does not require any editing. It's just a player. A great one.

I downloaded VLC and it worked. Very much appreciated! There appears to be some issue with video distortion on a few of the videos, but largely works great. I'm still uncomfortable deleting the video off my iphone. Can I download video directly from VLC player on emachine to dvd, flash drive, etc? Should I assume if/when I do that that the AV will remain in sync? If so, I guess I can delete video off iphone.
Should I pursue the other steps related to video driver updates and potentially adding RAM?

I missed how much RAM there is.

And I find many are not ready for driver hunts.

Can't answer either question really.

Sync the iPhone with iTunes and

your video will be Copied to your computer.
Now it is in two places.
Check you can play it on your computer and then go ahead and delete it from the iPhone

Couldn't hurt to add more RAM, but might not have an appreciable benefit. Clearly, you have confirmed that while not perfect, VLC does seem to work. 3 GB of RAM should be sufficient. Probably just a video card issue.
