Question

iPad Mic Dictation

Jul 4, 2012 3:54AM PDT

Hi, I have an iPad2. My husband just got a iPad 3rd Gen the new one. Now his has a mic on the keyboard and can dictate instead of type. We have the same iOS so I can get an app or update and get the dictation on mine too?

I suspect....

.....that it is a feature exclusive to the new iPad and no software/iOS update will allow it on the iPad 2. I liken it to trying to get the Siri application (as used by the 4S) to work the same on an older iPhone or asking if you can add on an internal camera on the original iPad.

Check updates

You should check the updates over iTunes for you iPad 2. If update shows you feature of voice to text then you can use dictation on your iPad, else there is no good option for you.
