I've had a frozen screen on another Apple device and it is easy to fix. Try rebooting your device like this:
1. Setting your ipad on a flat, hard surface such as a counter top may be easiest.
2. Next, you need to push and hold down these two buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo in the center of your screen: the button you push to turn your ipad on AND the circular button (the one you normally push to go back to your home screen).

3. Once you see the Apple logo, release the two buttons and your device is now doing a hard reboot. It will take just a little longer for your home screen to come up on this hard reboot than when you typically start your iPad and this is normal. You should now be able to remove/delete any App's you wish in the normal manner.
I loaded freecell on my ipad 2 and could not get it to open so decided to delete and and it froze. I touch the x and touch delete and nothing happens, I can not even turn it off. I have to wait for it to shut down on it's own. Not sure how to get rid of freecell...Thanks, Lorelee
