Question

iPad charging cable

Sep 23, 2012 9:01AM PDT

I have an iPad2. I extended my charging cable by adding a standard USB cable between the iPad cable and the wall adaptor plug. Well my husband needed a USB cable so I took it off and found another short usb cable in my box. But this one was thinner and charged my ipad slower. So my question is....are there different kinds of usb cables, like for usb 2 & 3? Is this one good for anything or should I just throw it away?

Answer
Not all USB cables are created equal!

you may have one that only handles USB 1.0 or cannot handle the amount of power that is required to charge an iPad in a reasonable time.

Chunk it and get another one

Think I'll go to Fry's and see if I can find a White USB cable for it. Are newer cables all the same or should I look for a speed rating or something?

Some are marked USB 2.0 while others are marked

USB Hi-Speed.

If you have a choice, go with the HI-Speed
