Docs To Go for the iPad
Jul 23, 2010 2:24AM PDT

No but DocsToGo is an app that works just like MS Office!
You can import, read and edit word, excel and power point files, along with other file formats! I use it all the time! It's a $15 app, but this video review really convinced me. There's also a $10 version.

depends on what you need

I'm not familiar with DocsToGo, but if true Microsoft compatibility is important to you, then beware. Many office "compatible" products work great on simple documents but do not handle documents with complex formatting very well. For example, I've used OpenOffice to view documents created with MS word. Heavily formatted documents get mangled pretty badly.

iPad is cool!

First of all it is definitely not a big phone. Currently with the iPad you can download, save, and view documents emailed to you such as word, excel, and pdf. The default app for typing is the Notes app. But I bet there are 3rd party apps that feature MSoffice-type applications.

Sure is, it's called iWork.

Word processor (Pages), spreadsheet (Numbers) and presentation (Keynote).

All able to open, and to save as, Office documents.

At a fraction of the cost of Office
